Holiday books for New Orleans’ kids

November 16th, 2007 · No Comments

I received this email and felt it was a worthy enough cause (and spearheaded by a Freeman student) to throw it out to the blogosphere. And if kids are reading books, that means they’re not polluting their minds with pointless drivel like K-Ville (which is about to be canceled…yeah I called it!)

Quick summary:

- Masters of Accounting Student Laura Cox is part of CACTUS (Community Action Council of Tulane University Students)
- Running a book drive for New Orleans school kids
- Has 4000 kids’ requests for books, now needs to supply books!
More info at their website, www.bookgivingtree.org

Laura Says:

Help us help the children in the New Orleans public elementary schools this holiday season! THE BOOK GIVING TREE is an organization dedicated to providing the children of New Orleans with books for the holidays!
We have a list of 4,000 children and a book they each requested for the Holidays. We are currently collecting, wrapping, and delivering books to the schools…

Please help us by donating a book, money, or wrapping paper! It is reallllly easy and inexpensive! Also, pass this message along to your family and friends at home…We need all the help we can get!
