5) Network - How has the Freeman network been? Are most of the alumni ready and willing to help you in the job market? Do you have ready access to an alumni database?
Network: Yes. We have a database that you have access to. Tulane is sort of a stronghold in New Orleans and it’s a very nostalgic brand I think. The alums are very happy to respond in my experience. As far as the local network, I can show you some tricks. Firstly, participate in active organizations that involve the business community and you’ll be beating them away with a stick. Just figure out what you want or at least start early. It’s about knowing what you need to do. I wanted to leverage the network as much as possible, so that’s what I ask the CMC for and what I started doing from the very first day I was on campus. People like Peter Ricciuti of the Burkenroad Program will throw contacts in your car window when you drive by campus if you ask them nicely.
