Guess who is the next President of TEA?
Lil’ ole me. That’s right. I will be the president of Tulane Entrepreneur Association next year when you arrive on campus, should you choose Tulane. Here is what we do:
We run the business plan competition. We are also very integrated with the Levy-Rosenblum Institute for Entrepreneurship, which is run by Dr. John Elstrott. Elstrott is an amazing resource. He’s an accomplished angel investor and sits on the board of Whole Foods among others. We run a speaker series, which boasted some big names this year. Steve Demos, former CEO of White Wave (silk soy milk et al) was one of them.
I have a great team under me and I am very, very excited about this. The officers are:
Jessica Duarte – VP of the Business Plan Competition
Guyon Lewis – VP Internal and the speaker series
Brigham Hall – VP of Finance
Theresa Davies – VP Management
Nasreen Akter – VP Marketing
I plan to pull off an amazing speaker series and as many entrepreneur workshops as I possibly can. I am going to try to organize topics so that attendees over the year will learn about the various steps to start, run and fund a start-up. Most importantly if you join, you’ll get to meet acting managers face-to-face. If you can personally shake the hands of 25 managers/entrepreneurs before the year is out, my goal will be met. You could potentially get all of those at the business plan competition alone, so think about volunteering for support services.
The reason I decided to do this is because of the excellent performance of this years TEA staff. I realized that the most valuable aspect of my education this year has been the external speakers that Tulane brings to the plate. It’s also a major component of the job search. That’s all for now!
