On Monday I answered some questions for a potential student about the CMC at the Freeman School, our alumni network and getting a job after graduating. This student was considering the Freeman School and SMU. I received another email this week and wanted to share it with you.
Hi Joel,
Just saw the post of our conversation this morning and thought that i should update you on my choice. I decided on attending Tulane, hopefully starting the PMBA in January. I am cramming for the GMAT now. My choice was mainly based on the fact that i felt more comfortable with the people at Tulane than at SMU. Overall everybody was extremely resourceful and helpful at Tulane; I definitely cant say the same thing about SMU but that’s for another chapter ….
Once again thanks for the comprehensive overview, gave me a good idea of what to expect and how to prepare accordingly.
Best Regards,
xxxx
That’s great! When I set out to write this blog, the one thing I wanted to be sure of was the tone: this is not a marketing effort for the Freeman School. Sure I’m here, I like it here, and I want to encourage as many people to come here as possible, but I’m not going to lie or bend the truth to achieve that. I think one of the reasons this blog has done well (over 5000 hits last month!) is because it’s honest. The last thing I’d want is for a student decide to attend the Freeman School based in part on what he/she read here and then have their experience turn out to be different from what was written here. So good, bad or indifferent, you get the straight dish here, and I guess that honesty still counts for a lot - the above email made my week!
Have a great weekend,
Joel Yarmon

Joel,
I totally agree. I think it is very important to keep this blog “honest.” The day this becomes a tool of the marketing department is the day it ceases to be a real blog. Stay strong!
