When eating that Thanksgiving turkey isn’t enough

November 27th, 2007 · 1 Comment

It’s probably not the best time to bring this up, week after Thanksgiving and all, but New Orleans - you’re fat! 13th fattest in the nation, in fact. As ranked by Forbes Magazine.

The Big (XXL) Easy tied with Baltimore, MD and Virginia Beach, VA. Notable cities fatter than us include Memphis, Detroit, San Diego and Cincinnati.

For dropping the weight, may I suggest the Reily Center at Tulane - great facilities (pool, indoor track ~30 bikes/ellipticals/treadmills, free/machine weights, ping pong, basketball, racquetball, squash, pool, spinning, classes, sauna, etc.). You don’t have to be a student to join.

For those of you who continue to fancy a career as a boat anchor (or who just like really good food), try August, Commanders or Brigtsens.

Funny that you mention post-Thanksgiving weight concerns. I am a happy Reily Center member, which only costs me $65 per semester!!! They have really nice equipment, and provide classes that you mentioned which seem to be a lot of fun.

Another restaurant that is a personal favorite of mine is Jacques-Imos on Oak Street right next to the Maple Leaf Bar (which you can sit in and have a drink while you wait to be seated). They have REALLY good alligator cheesecake.
