A lot of you have asked about housing at Tulane.
When I was looking for a place to live I used Craigslist almost exclusively.
But housing in New Orleans is kinda funny: you can have a half-million dollar home on one block and some pretty shanty/shady looking stuff the next.
The best thing to do is to visit stuff in person. If you can’t do that, like me, try arranging to come down before school starts and doing a sublet or week long hotel stay while you drive around and look at places.
I’ve also started a Real Estate forum here where you can post questions/wants/needs about housing. My place is up there, check it out!
Below is a quick google map I hacked together showing how I narrowed my final search down. Initially I was looking at all places inside the red. After living in the city for 2 years, I can say for certain that most everything inside the green will be in a good area, safe, low crime, etc. It will also probably be the most expensive stuff as it’s close to campus. This is not to exclude anything outside this map: I’m just telling you what I know. A real estate agent legally can’t include/exclude areas like this. But Zillow can!
