My Mom found this one - gotta give credit where it’s due. Whole Foods has started offering delivery from their Arabella Station store in New Orleans!
This is great for people who don’t have cars (yeah, I’m probably the only one in the city over 21) or people who don’t have a lot of time (ok, this one applies to all MBA’s and probably a lot of busy professionals). Delivery charge is $25 to start with, which is higher than what Robert’s Fresh Market charges, but my time is worth about that much as it is, so that charge doesn’t kill it for me.
What I would like to see is an online shopping component for the Whole Foods site. Right now you have to speak with someone over the phone, which sounds like it takes a bunch of time, plus they’re not going to have the time to list all the brands, prices, price per oz, how many are in stock, etc. and I’m not going to have the time to go over this with them every time I want to order. Whole Foods, if you’re reading this you gotta get an online component up, even if it’s just an excel spreadsheet of the goods in your store which can be faxed/emailed and a final price quote delivered to the customer before order acceptance. If you want to save people time, talking to them on the phone isn’t the way to do it.

An excel spreadsheet listing all available WFM products would be close to a 40 plus page fax. Most often, the guests who take advantage of the concierge program are familar with the
store (s) and prefer to e-mail their grocery list to ensure accuracy. For those less familar, such as my elderly mother, the concierge desk provides store tours and one-on-one consulting. The program really works!
